Clara Bossie, M.S. IMH/IMT

Comprehensive Delray Center Membership Coordinator

Clara Bossie, MC., IMT/ IMH received her bachelor's degree in Exceptional Education with a special focus on Mental Disabilities from the University of Centeral Florida in 2001. As a licenced educator, she worked closely with Very Special Arts (VSA), Special Olympics, and Autism Speaks. Additionally, she developed a series of educational workshops and parent support groups that proved invaluable for families in her community.

Clara's love for education is evident in her career achievments in the education field. Her teaching experience led to a deeper interest in helping families beyond the confines of the classroom. In 2007, she received her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology with special focus in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She has worked in the areas of life skill training for persons with disabilities, parent training, childhood disorders, marrige and family relationships, anxiety, depression, and addiction treatment. Her therapeutic modality includes the belief in a collaborative approach to change between the client and counselor.

She draws from an eclectic array of approaches including systemic family therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, expressive therapy, and psychoeducation. Clara collaborated with other providers to develop the Comprehensive Delray Center Membership at The Delray Center for Healing. She maintains direct contact with each participant and provides invaluable support to these individuals and family members during their treatment and as they transition back into daily life. Her main objective is to create an experience and individualized program that fits the needs of each participant.

Child Coaching

Clara has over 10 years of experience treating children spanning a variety of age groups, capabilities, and settings. She has advanced education in social-emotional issues, school settings, life skills, attention difficulties, sensory integration, behavioral management, curriculum development, and children with varying exceptionalities; including autism, pervasive developmental disorders, and Asperger's Syndrome.

Clara uses the term "Coaching" in her practice with children, which encompasses eclectic mix of techniques to make therapy creative, active, and fun. In this process parents receive continual support and learn strategies to integrate individual changes to improve family life. Parents are the child's greatest advocate and can have the most impact on the development of healthy behaviors and coping skills.

Child Coaching is also an excellent format to provide age appropriate addiction education, help kids join in the recovery process of family members, relate to recovering family members in a new way, cope with changes, and manage life with new and improved set of tools.
