The Depression Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at the Delray Center is the next progression of depression treatment that can follow either inpatient care or PHP. The IOP level of care is the essential transition between the more intensive care levels and regular outpatient treatment. The objective is to gradually return patients to their full functional capacity while still offering substantial clinical support and structure to prevent even a partial depressive relapse. Patients that are less than 6 months recovered from their depression are still at a high relapse risk and derive great benefit from this support.
Depression is a disease that poses numerous special challenges due to how many emotional triggers can exist in everyday life. Many of these challenges to fighting depression differ from those seen in other disorders and require certain specialized interventions. The Depression IOP was developed to specifically meet these needs. Several of the Depression PHP therapeutic modalities are also seen in the IOP.
Each day you’ll be involved with the IOP program, you can expect to learn more about depression, how you can manage symptoms, and using the tools given to you during therapy sessions. Certainly, some of the things you can expect to learn and experience during your time spent with the depression IOP include:

Here at Delray Center for Healing, we understand that every mental health technique may not be right for every patient enrolled in our IOP for depression. So, we make sure to offer a multitude of options, giving every person a chance to truly learn how to manage their depression in daily life. And, take these methods with them and utilize them daily, outside of treatment walls. Some of the methods you can expect to utilize and experiment with during your time with the depression IOP at Delray Center for Healing include:
The Depression IOP is a part-time, 3 to 5 day a week program with a strong therapeutic structure. This IOP is designed and offered for a minimum of 8 weeks. Patients who complete a steady transition from PHP to IOP and then to regular outpatient treatment are the most successful. Furthermore, many of our long term success cases regularly make positive contributions to the newer clients, nurturing a strong therapeutic community. Solid connections to a supportive community and a therapeutic system are the best predictors of successful treatment. So, our IOP patients usually have heavy involvement with the therapeutic community, which provides them with a great support system and helps them prevent relapse. The Depression IOP helps to prepare patients for long term remission of their depressive symptoms and full treatment success.
