Dual Diagnosis Eating Disorder Treatment

Treatment of Co-Occurring Mental Health & Eating Disorders

Many individuals who struggle with an eating disorder also suffer from conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These conditions can all serve as major eating disorder triggers for relapse and left untreated, which will usually prevent  successful recovery. When multiple conditions or disorders exist for a patient, this is considered to be a dual diagnosis. For eating disorder dual diagnosis patients, a comprehensive treatment approach is required that addresses all co-occurring mental health disorders.

At the Delray Center for Healing, we recognize the complexities of identifying and treating clients with disordered eating issues, like anorexia or bulimia, especially when there are other mental health conditions involved. The Delray Center offers a specialized and comprehensive approach to treatment, incorporating input from our multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists and psychotherapists, as well as the very latest in medical science. Each unique treatment program is tailored to the needs of the client, not the condition or disorder, providing for a complete recovery.

What to Expect from Eating Disorder Dual Diagnosis Treatment:

  • Every new program client begins their treatment journey by receiving a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation from our Medical Director & Founder, Raul J. Rodriguez MD, DABPN, DABAM, MRO. Based on that evaluation, each program client receives an individualized treatment plan, including specific clinical services relevant to their needs.
  • Clients have access to a full range of services that address all of their physical, mental and spiritual needs while attending the eating disorder dual diagnosis treatment program. These include structured psychiatric care, individual & group therapy, psycho-education, nutritional therapy, and wellness services such as yoga, acupuncture, IV vitamin infusions, massage therapy and personal training, all geared towards mental health.
  • Outpatient programs at the Delray Center are structured so that clients can gradually step down in levels of treatment, providing a truly seamless continuum of care. Clients completing our comprehensive dual diagnosis program can continue to see their psychiatrist and therapist on an outpatient basis, as well as access additional outpatient services, such as DBT therapy, family therapy, and nutritional therapy.
  • For individuals struggling with mood disorders as well as eating disorders, the Delray Center dual diagnosis program can be done concurrently with one of our specialized medical treatments, such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) or Ketamine infusion therapy for depression and other mood disorders. The Delray Center also offers TMS therapy for eating disorders.
