Transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy (TMS) is a powerful therapeutic tool utilized at the Delray Center for Healing’s Boca Raton Campus, as part of our greater approach to interventional psychiatry. Clients of the Delray Center can undergo TMS therapy while also receiving ongoing psychiatric care and individual counseling.
At the Delray Center in Boca Raton, our goal is to provide a wrap-around suite of psychiatric services, to help our patients successfully overcome any mental health issues. TMS is a safe and effective alternative therapy for those who have tried and failed medication or talk therapy in the past. Combining treatment at our Boca Raton TMS clinic with other services, such as structured psychiatric care and CBT or DBT therapy, improves your chances of success even more.
More About TMS Therapy
TMS, short for transcranial magnetic stimulation, is a unique therapy that is available to Delray Center clients on an outpatient basis. TMS therapy is FDA-approved to treat both major depressive disorder (MDD) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). It is a non-invasive therapy, with significantly fewer side-effects than other treatments, like electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Better yet, TMS does not require medication or hospitalization, and treatment sessions can be as short as 12-15 minutes.
Transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy is indicated for individuals who are considered “treatment-resistant,” meaning they have not positively responded to conventional mental health therapies like medication or counseling. TMS treatments have shown to yield high rates of remission for those suffering from treatment-resistant depression or OCD. In about six weeks time, individuals who have struggled with debilitating mental illness have watched their lives completely change.
TMS therapy utilizes repetitive pulses from powerful magnets, which penetrate through the cranium and stimulate the parts of the brain that regulate mood. This magnetic stimulation increases neurotransmitter production, and helps reset the brain to its normal level of functionality, before chronic depression and anxiety. Unlike other treatments, for most patients there are no side effects.
