The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at the Delray Center is the next progression of depression treatment that can follow either inpatient care or PHP. The IOP level of care is the essential transition between the more intensive care levels and regular outpatient treatment. The objective is to gradually return patients to their full functional capacity while still offering substantial clinical support and structure to prevent even a partial PTSD relapse.
Patients that are less than 6 months recovered from their Post Traumatic Stress Disorder are still at a high relapse risk and derive great benefit from this support. Trauma-based disorders pose numerous special challenges due to how many emotional triggers can exist in everyday life. Many of these challenges to fighting PTSD symptoms differ from those seen in other disorders and require certain specialized interventions. The PTSD IOP was developed to specifically meet these needs. Several of the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder PHP therapeutic modalities are also seen in the IOP.
The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) includes:
The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder IOP is a part-time, 3 to 5 day a week program with a strong therapeutic structure. This IOP is designed and offered for a minimum of 8 weeks. Patients who complete a steady transition from PHP to IOP and then to regular outpatient treatment are the most successful. Many of our long-term success cases regularly make positive contributions to the newer clients, nurturing a strong therapeutic community. Solid connections to a supportive community and a therapeutic system are the best predictors of successful treatment. Our IOP patients usually have heavy involvement with the therapeutic community, which provides them with a great support system and helps them prevent relapse. The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder IOP prepares patients for long-term remission of their anxiety symptoms and full treatment success.
